Through vulcanization cellulose papers or cotton can be turned into tough and leathery materials. While the process is well over a hundred years old, it fell into oblivion. With the development of new cellulose based materials the technique may become relevant again.

- Laboratory trials to recreate the processes found with paper and or cotton
- Laboratory trials with alternative raw materials
- Determination of mechanical properties of the produced material
